[Sussex] PCMCIA IRQ conflicts

Hi folks,

Big help needed!

My brother-in-law, over from the US, uses a camera with an old style Flash memory card. I have a PCMCIA flach card adapter and all is fine at the hardware level.

I'm running kernel-pcmcia on a Dell Inspiron and a Compaq Armada running SuSE 8.2 and 8.1 respectively.

On BOTH machines, I can't run any pcmcia cards because as soon as I insert them I get an "IRQ in use" error. Both machines have two on-board pcmcia devices as well as two slots. It seems as though IRQ 10 is the problem and that is run up with the usb hotplug but even though I stop that service and rmmod all suspect modules it still chucks up this error (is it pcnet_cs which is what is trying to run I wonder?).

I need to be able to download this flash memory (which is recognised as an ide device but drops off with the same error still) because he is an M$ person and it's a pride thing.

Any suggestions most gratefully received, especially if you can copy them to my work address - derek.harding at etsi-europe.com

Lots of anticipatory thanks.

Best wishes,
Derek
