You shouldn't need SCSI emulation at all.  

When you're using cdrecord set:

dev=/dev/hdx

..where hdx is the device name for your IDE cd writer (mines /dev/hdd
for example).  Linus dropped the SCSI emulation code a while back
(promting a protracted series of strops from Joerg Schilling).
