Dave,

Depends where your parents live. NTL have grown primarily through
acquisition of local companies and, as a result, have a mish-mash of
systems in different parts of the country, all of which are set slightly
differently.

In most cases, rebooting everything, in the right order, will work, but
you sometimes need to leave the STB powered down for up to half an hour
for it to re-initialise.

I've learnt the hard way that the solution that works around here does
NOT work down near Portsmouth :-(
