Yes of course it will.  So long as all the support libs (gtk, etc) are
installed it's not a problem.  Actually it's usually only KDE apps that
won't run outside of KDE (because of the ludicrous DCOP), but that's
getting better - especially as DBUS supersedes both DCOP in KDE and
CORBA in GNOME.

No.. that information is lost when you close synaptic.

Yup, export your DISPLAY variable correctly and do xhost+ as the session
owning user.
