I believe I did this a few years back using xvncserver on port 5800 ( 
http ) which provided my user account desktop via vnc via the browser.

I'll havea  hack later and write up the howto on that ..

NOTE : if you use knoppix or have install No Machine then you can use 
NXClient as I currently do to access your box remotely

I guess this would be a more interesting presentation than Global 
Address Books eh !


if its just command line stuff you need then you can use putty .
