[Sussex] Firefox taking up a lot of your memory

All

If you're a Firefox user that keeps the browser open for a long period
of time (days in my case) then you may have notices that it hogs a
lot of memory.

What Firefox is doing (apparently) doing is caching and prefetching
pages linked off the one you've loaded. If you're using tabs, and
given the number of links off some pages (hundreds) this can add up
to a lot of memory.

To turn this off (which is reasonable for broadband users) is:

  1). Browser to: about:config
  2). Find the entry "browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers"
3). Right click (menu) and selected "Modify"
4). Change the value to "0"

Hope this is useful
Steve
