Is there a way,  when a user logs in of having a Firefox window open 
automatically at a specific page (e.g. 
http://localhost/my_location/my_prog.php). Obviously, it will be a big 
advantage to users if the application they want to use is instantly 
accessible.

Try this one:
Get the page you want in to the Firefox window and then go to

Edit----Preferences------General
then click on use current page.
