My understanding is that Amarok supports the ipod
but, not having one, I have not checked it.
I have though installed grip and lame to enable ripping of CDs to mp3 
and that works very smoothly.
I have also installed limewire which the youngsters do use, I hope 
legally. GoogleEarth is pretty cool as well.
