Below is a copy of a comment I made to the BBC about this news item:

"I read with interest the item telling of the BBC's agreement with
Microsoft.

I am more than a little concerned about this, especially as the BBC
operates some Open Source software projects.

Also, as I choose not to use Microsoft's "Windows" operating system, I
hope that this agreement will not lead to a situation where those who
use other operating systems (GNU/Linux in my case) will find themselves
either excluded from or having a diminished experience of the BBC
website.

Such a situation (hypothetical at the moment, I realise) would surely
run counter to the BBC's commitment to provide media that everyone can
access?"
