You could try setting them up with SME server [1]

It says the minimum RAM is 256MB but I have run it under VMware with 64MB
allocated - it's not fast but it works.

Comes by default with Samba installed so file sharing for Windows clients is
easy. PPTP VPN access is also built in so Windows users can access it
remotely. All config (after initial install) is web based so no fiddling
with the command line for simple functions. Even has a built in software
updater that alerts you when updates are available and installs them all for
you.
