[Sussex] Installing programs in Linux

probably others have already answered your question.
I am a PCLinuxOS user, converted about 3 months ago from windows,
probably similar to you in terms of windows knowledge.

If I can help at all am happy to assist from a newbie point of view.
Is the PCLinuxOS Gnome or KDE version?
