Hello John

The usual way of providing the automated failover that you are after is to
use a PRI gateway - something like the Vegastream Vega 400, however as your
customer is on a shoestring I doubt they would be prepared to spend the sort
of money required.

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone knew of a solution to my customer's problem:

The customer runs on a shoestring so has recycled servers and two servers
running Asterisk. He has ISDN PRI cards installed in the Asterisk servers
and a single ISDN PRI coming into the building.

Right now he has a process of failover whereby when the Asterisk box dies,
he unplugs the E1 cable and plugs it into the other Asterisk box.

I know there is a manual 2 port RJ45 switch box that you can buy that will
suffice, but does anyone have any other ideas?
