I use evince too and don't have a problem with it.  For those that don't
now evince is the Gnomee document viewer.  It will not only view PDFs
but PostScript, DVI and other document formats.

But evince, or any other document viewer as far as I know, doesn't
convert the document into printer commands when printing.  It just
submits the document file to the printer queue.

So if you're having problems printing a document on your printer there
is little point in looking at the document viewer.  The task of
converting a document into the appropriate printer commands is handled
by software in the printer queue.  Check you have the correct printer
driver for your printer and that the document conversion software that
is now part of the Linux printer subsystem is properly installed.
