<p>Thanks for the reply Desmond. My use of DVD's on this occasion is because I couldn't work out what else to do in the short term, plus the prices for external drives that I found when I looked this week weren't as good as the amazon link.</p>
<p>I was also thinking about the possibility of the power supply being an issue, but I also get random freezes on the screen refresh and when swapping user accounts. So I'm more suspicious of something graphics related but on the mobo, rather than the graphics card.......because of the powering up problem.......of course I might easily be barking up the wrong tree (and it gives me the excuse to convince swmbo the need to upgrade/renew).</p>
<p>I'll be looking at your suggestion for the external drive though as I think its the best solution longer term......</p>
