I am interested in the subject. I use Capella. Can any one give me a comment / comparison with Musescore and or other free software ?
Thank you
elio

On 28 June 2012 14:03, Stephen Williams <sdp.williams@btinternet.com> wrote:
I use a combination of Lilypond and Frescobaldi. It's not point-and-click
and takes a little getting used to, but once you do it's very quick. The
best thing is that the output is really good quality.

It does multi-voice scores, orchestral parts, transposition and many other
things. I've attached a sample which I did last week from a fairly tatty
original in D major.

I can't make the moot as I'm playing in a concert, but if I can get to
another moot I can demo it.
Dear Gavin,

I am very interested on that particular topic as I have to prepare a couple
of orchestra and piano scores, transpose them, extract the single instrument
scores and get them nicely put on paper, etc. I used to do this kind of work
on Sibelius, but since I fully migrated to Linux (Ubuntu) I have been
missing a good score writer that I can understand and use... will you talk
about this on the 5th July?
best
