[SWLUG] bootable dvds

I've been trying to install Mandrake 9.0 on a system that I've just
built. I just wanted to see what it was like before I went and put
Debian on the system.

Anyway I tried to use the latest Linux Format DVD which is supposed to
boot into the Mandrake install process but my latest system doesn't
recognise it as a bootable disc. If I put a bootable cd into the DVD
drive then it works as expected and if I put the bootable DVD into the
DVD drive on my old system then it works as expected.

Does anyone know why this dvd might not boot on my new system?
Unfortunately I don't have any other bootable DVDs that I can try. I
suspect the drive is either dodgy or that Linux Format DVDs are in a
Format that Sony drives don't like.

The drive is a Sony DDU1621-10, the only other thing that I can think of
trying is to put the pioneer DVD drive from my old system into the new
one.

It's not too much of a problem because I've just ripped and burnt the
Mandrake ISO's and I am currently installing from cd, it's just annoying
that it doesn't seem to work.
