[SWLUG] 256 mb mem stick

i have one of the above that refuse to work, now it may be faulty of course, 
but i've read that low quality memory is sometimes incompatible with some 
systems due to the larger number of chips on them, there are 16 on this one, 
if someone has some fool proof way to test this stick and you are going to 
the lecture/meeting on mar 5th then perhaps you could help me out, 
alternatively if someone knows more about the first part of this post i'm 
ready to be enlightened
