[SWLUG] Which distribution?

Personally I have to say Debian, for 3 reasons.

1 - Apt and dpkg - the debian package management is second to none.
2 - Layout. Everything has it's proper place and unless you get "3rd party"
debs, this is normally followed to the letter.
3 - Stability.

There are downsides tho. the current Stable distro is never really upto
speed with the rest of the world. So as a desktop OS, it tends to lag behind
a bit unless:

a) you use the Unstable branch, although not advised for obvious reasons.
b) you download things separately and compile, forgoing apt's package
management.

Other than that, it's a really good os.
