[SWLUG] quick question regarding tv-out

having in front of me an old pc with onboard tv-out, but reports from the 
previous owner that the onboard vga is 'iffy', i'm tempted to see what can be 
obtained from tv-out, but i'm not familar with how that works
is it the case for most situations that if you have the driver for the onboard 
graphics or for an addin card that any tv-out functionality will also be 
present or is the case that even if you have the vga up and running that i 
will need a seperate driver for the tv-out, is it usual to have to configure 
the config for X to make it happen?
i'll post an addendum to this once i work out - if i can - what the actual 
chipset etc is, but for now i'm trying to suss what it is i need to know, 
what would be cool would be to actually do the install with a tv instead of a 
monitor
