[SWLUG] more mp3 player problems

i'be just been revisiting my attempt to get an old box to play mp3s but be
contolled remotely (from windows), found some software called mserv and a win
client, all works fine, except, the linux box is old and whatever program
mserv uses to play the mp3 requires buffering to avoid stutter, unfortunately
this results in a 4/5 second gap between songs since the mserv client/server
combo issues individual commands for each song played,
is there a command line/ncurses player that can enqueue songs and play
multiple songs with buffering and no gaps between? that way even if it
doesn't have a way to control remotely i could look at using putty for remote
control via a shell, i've googled for days but i seem to go round in circles
not finding anything i haven't already seen
in an ideal world there would be a command line version of xmms and a remote
control over the network for it, well actually there is, there appears to be
something called noxmms, but i can find one rpm for it and i don't know how
to install that on debian,

a linux box serving mp3s via its soundcard, playlist management that doesn't
buffer each song only after the previous has finished playing, a windows
client - this must have been done surely?
