OK, I'll give it a go in about 5 minutes.  Expect some follow up questions
on how to make it all work with my DSL router!

As for why I don't use Debian, well, "fear" is the word that comes to mind.
I'm a pretty good applications programmer, but anything more techie than
that (including FAX machines and photocopiers - don't even think about
printers!) turns my knees to jelly.
