Ah, I know MythTV. Not really what I'm aiming for (though an excellent 
project). I'm not after recording directly to my Linux box, but rather 
to extract and manipulate the MPEG streams my DVD recorder makes. (My 
better half would be baffled by a full PVR, and she's responsible for 
most of the recording.)

Glanced over it but the fact it watermarks things is a bit of a put-off. 
(I'm a cheap skate.) I did just spot Cinelerra though, so I might see 
how that works out.

Perfect. I'll give it a whirl tonight and see how it goes. The fact it's 
done in Mono is good as well, because I've been wanting to have a go 
with that as well =)
