And there was me thinking your name was Ace Ironballs. Tch.

Generally Ubuntu is a very easy way to get into Linux. I recently
installed Xubuntu 6.06 (a derivative of Ubuntu for older/slower
machines) and it autodetected and installed everything, including my
wireless dongle. In fact, it installed far easier than Windows did
when it was on the same computer.

However, it hides a lot from you. My first attempt with Linux was with
Gentoo, which - by going for the most ridiculously over-the-top,
complicated install ever - taught me an awful lot about what was going
on under the surface. And also taught me that Ubuntu is a damned smart
distro. =)

With what I've been doing lately, it's far superior to Windows. But
then, I'm a born tinkerer! For what I do at work, it's inferior to
Windows, because I write software for Windows - but then, for all our
servers we've gone for Linux over Windows everytime.

So, erm... welcome anyway =)

Steve
