Hi all

Following on from this message:
http://swlug.org/pipermail/discuss/2005-November/005287.html

The computer has been built and Ubuntu installed just fine except that
the onboard Ethernet (Vitesse 8201 phy) was not configured on
installation (though Gnome says Ethernet is active). I've configured the
gateway/router via it's web interface and it connects to the internet ok
but I don't know how to do the final step and configure the network (one
machine) on the computer to connect to the router and get online.

This forum thread: http://kerneltrap.org/node/4442 - makes me think I
should be able to do it.

If someone could give me idiot-proof instructions I would be very grateful.

If the instructions involve using a terminal they have to be *really*
idiot-proof.

I'm using Gnome on Ubuntu.

This is the gateway/router:
Linksys ADSL2 Gateway

this is the motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-K8NF9 Ultra

Thanks for any help.

Hugh
