sounds rather like the hardware is declaring itself as two drives of
different types. i can think of no other reason to get two device files
of different styles.

so this like isnt simply a partitioning problem.
therefore i doubt there anything you can do about it.

the other drive might even have been implimented as rom.
but this is pure guesswork.
