I don't think you need to worry too much. So long as the BIOS can read
the first partition, and, through Grub can load the kernel, Linux will
take over.

Linux uses it's own drivers for disks and will take over, negating any
issues with the BIOS. You'll just need to make sure that the first
partition start- and end-points are within the limits of the BIOS to
succeed.
