 At least we know it's not a broken MBR or a bootloader problem. Some of
the bootup printout will be displayed in tty1, so after it's finished
booting just press CTRL+ALT+F1 to switch to that.
Some distros also take a long while to load the X server and GUI, so you
might just have to wait a few minutes more. If nothing happens, use the
init5 command or xinit.
