[SWLUG] is usb failure a premonition of machine demise?

All 6 USB ports on one of my motherboards have stopped working (they 
supply power and the OS can see the USB controllers, but nothing happens 
when you plug a device in).  The machine is still working fine other than 
that though, so I'm not too concerned - I didn't really need the USB on 
that machine anyway.
