I can't specifically say for Fedora but you need to be looking on the net for anything to do with the acpi module. It's how Linux systems control power interface functions.

Subject: [SWLUG] How do I get variable speed fans under Fedora 13?

Hi,

I have got a new desktop machine and I'm trying it with Fedora 13. It
has a power supply fan & a CPU fan. Both fans appear to be running all
the time. I set the BIOS so that the target temp was 50C and reduced
the fan speed to 3 (max 9) but I'm not sure if Linux is overriding or
not. On my old machine the fans definitely varied in speed.

Can anyone tell me how to do this in Fedora?

Thanks!
