Parsing stuff quickly - Perl
App dev - Python

I know Java gets a lot of stick, but found that very easy to learn years ago.

Perhaps try a few and see how you get on? I know people that are
uttery useless in one language, but fine in another. I know that
shouldn't make sense, but I have seen it.  To me it's mostly just
syntax, but hey ho.  We are all different and that's what makes thing
interesting.
