Agreed.  It's horrendous at higher DPIs.  I usually forget this and
then a few months later try to scan something and experience it all
over again!

I think things like that used to be common in all inkjets.  I'm sure
that my Epson in the 1990s used to waste ink cleaning the heads and
due to infrequent use.  I wouldn't go back to an inkjet now.  Lasers
aren't expensive these days and they're so much quieter, increased
ppm, etc.
