istr this whole conversation started from the request to put something
on the website for the GNU celebrations, so the whole revamp idea was
triggered by a need to make some small temporary changes.

but yes, there is too much junk at the moment, and we need to clear out
the mess.

yes, many of the CMS's are terrible at layout, which is why i like
pmwiki, the look of the entire site is just one html template file and
one css file. it can look however you want it to look, but can be edited
online in a simple fashion.

Someone suggested making the site editable by storing the pages on
github and automatically updating the webserver from it.
