<font face="Century Gothic">Neil is spot on with the beeps ... they are
bios error codes, and are specific to the bios your comp has, if you
know that then have a look on Google and you should get a specific
error. Like Neil says - usually memory. For IBM it seems continuous
means that the mobo is fried, but for others it might mean a PCI card
is loose or somesuch.<br>

If you need to diagnose further, remove everything from the mobo
(except CPU and power) and start adding bits in gradually, cycling
power each time, until you find the culprit.<br>

If I take the linux disk out of my current non-functioning machine and put it into my old machine what problems may I encounter. Alan suggested since the processor may be different ( it is I believe an old Cyrix chip I may need to do something to the kernel.)
I may want to look at getting an second hand machine via ebay.
Ancy advice on swapping disks around machines would be welcome.
