<big><big>Dear All<br>
<br>
During boot up of my Mandrake 10.1 I see three entries in red that
have failed, however this is near the end of the process, so the text
is not on screen long enough for me to read it So went looking in the
manual and read that "/var/log/boot.log" contains this information.
Carefully selected extracts are reproduced below.<br>
<br>
"Feb 17 22:26:42 localhost network: Setting network parameters:
succeeded <br>
Feb 17 22:26:43 localhost network: Bringing up loopback interface:
succeeded <br>
Feb 17 22:26:43 localhost network: Bringing up interface eth0: failed <br>
Feb 17 22:26:43 localhost portmap: portmap startup succeeded "<br>
<br>
But I get internet access OK, so why the error message ?<br>
<br>
<br>
"Feb 17 22:26:51 localhost cpufreq: Probing cpufreq modules : <br>
Feb 17 22:26:51 localhost cpufreq: failed<br>
Feb 17 22:26:51 localhost cpufreq: ^[[65G<br>
Feb 17 22:26:51 localhost cpufreq: [^[[1;31m<br>

Feb 17 22:26:51 localhost loadkeys: Loading
/usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/uk.kmap.gz"<br>
<br>
But what is cpufreg ? and does its failure matter ?<br>
<br>
<br>
"Feb 17 22:27:03 localhost smb: smbd startup succeeded<br>
Feb 17 22:27:03 localhost smb: nmbd startup succeeded<br>

<br>
Does this matter ?<br>
<br>
<br>
"Feb 17 22:27:12 localhost rc: Starting kheader: succeeded<br>

Feb 17 22:28:01 localhost smb: smbd shutdown failed"<br>
<br>
Does this matter ?<br>
<br>
<br>
Any input welcome<br>
