Have you tried <a

(on Portmanmoor road industrial estate, not far from Magic R-bout)?
They regularly throw out computer cases (I used to volunteer there).

They refurb 2nd hand business machines for charity but also sell (IMHO
for too much) computers to individuals. They have a lot of old chips
and SIMMs (! - I recommended making geek keychains out of them ..) and
things lying around (or did at least) and plenty of obsolete hardware.

Computers that are totally borked get stripped for useful parts
(memory, drives, video cards,...) and then junked.

I'd expect them to be suspicious so play it softly.

The main "engineer" was an MCSE called Karl when I was there. They have
a dude called Ken (IIRC) who is good with monitors.

I tried to introduce them to linux but I wasn't really there long
enough ...
all,

I'm wondering if there's any decent computer shops in Cardiff? I know
there's about five on City road and surrounding area, and probably
more elsewhere, but can anyone say if any are particulary good or bad?
I've popped into a couple to ask for price lists, and they were
decidedly less than friendly.

I'm after various new bits and bobs, and also some older bits and
pieces. Do any of the shops let you at their off-casts from upgrades
and things? (The shop I used to know in Glasgow had loads of stuff
that came in from upgrades and such like that they used to let me at
for a few quid).

That said, if anyone on the list has an old ATX case, PSU or PC133 RAM
they don't want, in the Cardiff area, I may be able to releive you of
it for a few quid :-)

Cheers,
