No, that was entirely serious. I spent 2 years at Intel doing
cross-platform SS7 and SIGTRAN protocol stack development - you seem to
be under the impression that "cross platform" *has* to mean Windows, </blockquote>
Nope it's just this bit:<br>

"<i>Developing and maintaining cross-platform<br>
SS7 telecommunications signalling<br>
software (GNU/Linux, Solaris and Windows).</i>"<br>

I do try and assume as little as possible. I didn't mean to offend at
all, perhaps my soft skills are a bit run down, sorry. If it's any
consolation most people lie everyday (and yes I'm a big fan of House).
Perhaps I should have been euphemistic ("overstating your position")
and British about it. I digress.<br>

<i>Meanwhile back at the thread</i>:I still don't see how application
configuration is different from one distro to another, if I'm
configuring Krusader (a twin panel file manager), say, then it's the
same on whatever distro. Unless you're talking sys-admin level
configuration of a raft of machines over the network? In which case I
should probably have read more of the start of the thread??!<br>
<br>
Can you give an example app that is different to configure under Ubuntu
and Fedora - I can fire up virtualbox and try it out then.<br>
