I'm trying it on my laptop first. It comes up on my laptop running Mint 20.1 Cinnamon as this <div><div>Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1546:01a7 U-Blox AG [u-blox 7]</div><div><br></div></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On my other laptop running Raspbian Buster, it doesn't show up at all, which is rather unfortunate as that's the laptop I had several free hours to work on during my now non-existent work breaks. Yup - they keep me busy. I'm now doing overtime for the next few months.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Where the problem I'm getting lies is that on my Mint laptop, running the Python code comes up with</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><div><div><br></div><div>ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'serial'</div></div><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I'm thinking that might be a Pi specific library that might not be replicatable on my Mint laptop. I'm using the sample code from here. <a href="https://content.instructables.com/ORIG/FVN/X6U3/JLCKH7EE/FVNX6U3JLCKH7EE.py" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://content.instructables.com/ORIG/FVN/X6U3/JLCKH7EE/FVNX6U3JLCKH7EE.py</a></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">If I can get the Mint laptop to access the G-Mouse then I can get to work on code to read the output and parse it into a usable format (meanwhile learning Python as I go). </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">As far as the other laptop goes, I put Raspbian on it so that I have a duplicate of my Pi but that seems not to be the case if it won't act like a Pi for reading common stuff like USB ports. I might end up replacing Raspbian Buster with MX in that case, just to make the laptop more usable.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Is the seriel library likely a Raspbian only thing that can't be applied to Mint or is there some solution?</div></div><div><br></div><div class="ydp1308c859signature">Rhys Sage</div></div></body></html>
