Hi,

As part of a company making consumer parts we are starting to get requirements to support IPv6. I suspect that this is because the major supplier of Desktop OS has started supporting IPv6 with their latest software. Previous versions have only supported IPv4. I guess this means routers will start supporting IPv6 and then it will be up to the ISP's to support it. I think it will only happen when you complain that you are unable to get to a Website because it is in the IPv6 only address space.

It is the multi-core, 64bit argument activities replayed again. 

I have to admit the IPv6 support in our products (ARM based) is at present done by enabling it in the Linux Kernel. We do have network accelerators which have required changes to support IPv6 but the initial implementation was a doddle.
