*Groan* ;) And I thought I was the guy that had all
the wrong hardware at the wrong time ;)

To be honest dunno what to say about this one, not
without output anyway, but the chances are I'd be
saying the same thing as I said before. Try a
usb->ps/2 converter. I have a usb mouse and it works
fine. I've mooched around the Mandrake archives and
there were mentions of such things but few answers,
though one does mention an SiS chipset
http://archives.mandrakelinux.com/cooker/2003-02/msg00026.php

As I said, it does not provide an answer though.

Unfortunately things can be like this sometime, I
certainly know, but it's good to see you hanging on in
there. Usually things get resolved within a release or
2. You could file a bug report with Mandrake about
these problems so maybe they will get resolved faster.

Realistically, just like the discussion about floppy
disk mounting, these things really should work
nowadays. In fact, I think this one generally does
it's just maybe that you're in the unfortunate
position of having an unusual hardware situation or
case scenario. It does seem like you're trying the
right things though.

Anyway, I'm just adding to your list of things to
absorb ;)
