Agreed, Peter, it is entirely possible.  I'm just paranoid now after
my experience.  Unfortunately the guy involved is not somebody I know
at all.  He is purely one of my brother's mates.  I understand that he
'knows' his way around a PC.  But what that means encompasses a
hundred and one things.  As you say, he could well be M$ conditioned.
