[Wolves] Linux on the radio

There was an interesting program ("In Business") about spam on Radio 4
9.30pm last night.

spam aparently generates 1 sale per million emails, and makes approx £35 per
sale for the spammer, top spammers (of which there are maybe 200 worldwide)
send 60-70million emails a day, very good money for very little work.

They went on to discuss the posibility of text message spam and robot
callers (that ring you up to play you an advert), not that major at the
moment due to the cost but if the spammers can cut a deal with the phone
companies, or find a way to avoid paying then you too will be woken at 3am
by a robot trying to enlarge your penis.

Also interesting comments on Bill Gates aim of beating spam in two years
(the general consensus was "impossible")

And all this while driving home, of course I could have been listening to
the "Sunday Surgery" on radio 1...

air/internet)
