Erm, cygwin comes with xfree86.  You have to /pay/ for the other X 
servers don't you?  I'm cheap and paying for software brings me out in a 
rash, particularly when there is a free alternative available.

/I've/ installed it.  'nuff said.  :)  There is a downloadable batch 
file which starts up twm and a couple of xterms, which I've edited to 
connect to the server here, and I'm sure could be edited for a remote 
SSH X session.

I don't quite get why people *want* truly remote X apps like that(it's 
the reason I had not tried the compression thingie until now).  Which X 
apps do you guys run remotely anyway?
