[Wolves] Cheapo Linux books

If anybody is around the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton just pop into
The Works, the cheap book store. They have a load of computer books
all quite cheap. There is a Red Hat 9 Dummy's book :-) but perhaps of
more use to some of the more tech heads on the list are a few O'Reily
titles. It can't hurt to look if you are in the area.

Oh, while I was there I spread the word a bit about Linux. A couple
of young lads - 13 or 14 - were looking at the above books and one
piped up with "am I thick or what? But what is Red Hat Linux?" So I
aked them if they knew about M$ Windows being a computer operating
system. I mentioned the extornionate prices charged for M$ products,
such things as Office starting at around £300 for a legal copy and of
course the virus and trojan problem. Then I explained that there is
simply not this worry with Linux and, of course, the free office type
suites. I think they were pretty well impressed :-) Hopefully they
are now future Linux converts.
