It looks as though Poland may cave into pressure from other EU countries.

Quote from Yahoo news site:

"BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Poland is expected to lift objections to
proposed rules on patenting computer inventions, allowing the European
Union to continue work on the controversial bill, a Polish diplomat
says.

Poland, the EU's biggest newcomer, has been postponing the approval on
the proposed rules for two months, saying it needed more time to
analyse the impact of the legislation on small and medium-size
software companies.

The diplomat, who asked not to be named, said on Monday that if EU
president Luxembourg put the issue on the agenda of the bloc's
ministers meeting next week, Warsaw would allow the bill to go to a
second reading in the European Parliament."
