| the Real stream into a file in the first place tho'?

Audacity can record whatever goes through the sound card as an
Audacity project onto HD, which can then be exported as ogg, mp3, wav,
etc. In the top right of the Audacity window is a drop-down dialogue
to choose recording input: select "Vol".

Then it's a matter of playing the file & making a real-time recording
of it.

Find out how long the programme is. You can then set Audacity to
record for that length of time following these instructions:

http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.pl?TimedRecording

It produces pretty good quality recordings in my experience.

There's also RealRekord, but this is no longer being developed and I
have found it to be very problematical.

One of my reasons for not completely abandoning MS was lack of
RealPlayer support. With Ubuntu & Audacity, I am now happy :-)

Can you see beauty in ugliness?
Or is it playing in the dirt?
