Your start point should really be 'what do you want' in respect of reports?

Once you know the type of information you want then you can have a look at 
whats available, theres nothing worse than buying something and finding it 
only does 70% of what you want.

We've given up on SugarCRM and gone back to ACT6 I've created 7 custom reports 
so if I can do it anyone can after all its only;

BlahBlah = < else = 

I take it you know you can get hold of some evaluation Crystal Reports?

You've got two options;

1. Buy/Get something that is customizable.
2. Right it yourself

If it was you and a couple of users I'd say right them yourself SQL will let 
you define your own queries, however I take it this is for a wider audience 
and therefore speed in getting some sort of reporting capability implemented 
is essential, therefore something like Crystal Reports will be your best bet.
