Oh I'm more than happy to tell everybody, the whole world in fact,
that the scanner I have that is not supported under Linux is......wait
for it....drum roll :-))) A Canon LiDE 50. No surprises there, eh?
I have badgered Canon until I'm sick to death of doing it about
writing some Linux drivers... nah, they don't want to know. So, when
more and more people are using Linux and half of Canon's products
don't run under it and they start to lose market share...well, tough
on them.

Actually, I have mentioned all this before so I do apologise to ther
LUG members for going over old ground. Just to finish it, there is a
guy who does SANE development who actually owns a LiDE 50 himself.
SO, it's highly likely that some time in the future I will be able to
use it. I don't do enough scanning to warrant buying another scanner
and this one was purchased before I started to use Linux properly
anyway. So, please forgive me my indiscretion in not checking that it
was supported first. I always do so now.

Oh, that little sound niggle in Ubuntu, it being rather quiet..
Sorted. I just needed to check the default sound level..it's only
about 3/4 of the way up on the live CD. Now, I might just install
this to one of my drives properly :-)
