Hello,

When using linux for the first time you know what directories like /home
and /mnt means. Then after research you reliase that /usr/bin and
/boot/grub are important.

But as you use linux with different distros and spread the gospel. You
learn new folders that i felt i should have knowed, like /etc/fstab and
something in /etc/X11. Yes, 'you learn as you go' but all the time i go
on the web, these important directories are never explicitly listed
(maybe there is), unlike the 100s of pages on the the other stuff.

I think it would be good if the expertise and knowledge among you all
could do this on a webpage or
documnet (it may not be under 'newbie'). It would
solve a lot of hassle and make stuff easy to diagnose.
At times i use the 'command terminal' and some distros don't have a
central software and hardware base hence these directories would be very
very useful.

I mean like; where is the central hardware directory like for modem,
graphics card etc. Where about the screen info. Where is the boot-up
paramaters. etc etc etc etc.

Cheers

Bobby
