POP usually pulls the mail onto your PC and then deletes it off the
server, so you can only access your email from your main PC.

IMAP, on the other hand, maintains a folder structure on the server and
your mail client acts as an interface to the mail server, and your mail
stays on the server. This means that you can access your mail - old and
new - from any internet-connected PC.
