Pure supposition, but imagine you've just got a webcam, you test it
using the the bundled software. It's not like in the movies or a photo,
that poster behind you is all backward. The webcam is obviously faulty,
you return it for a refund. 

In version 1.1 they flip the image, to make it 'right'.
